Flight school for international student?
 

Hello guys

I'm looking for a flight school to get my IR and CMEL. The thing is that I need to have 50 hours for the multi engine and the company don't approve FTD or simulator. I have done tons of researches but still looking for it.
I don't need the name value. But I hope the school have well-maintained aircraft and knowledgeable instructors. Of course the cost is one of the most important factors.

And are there any ways to get 1,000 hours? like some schools say they have a program for international students working as an instructor for free or internship.
But the problem is those kind of school are pretty expensive!!

If I fail to get in the company in Korea, I should get 1,000 hours in order to enter the airlines. There's no job vacancy with 250 hours in my country.
Hard to become an airline pilot.

Rule #1. Don't ever work for free! (I don't care if they call it an internship)

Rule #2. Be cautious of flight schools. (They all want your money and will tell you anything to get it)

Rule #3. Don't forget rule # 1 & 2.

That is good advice and FYI I have yet to see an airplane that is "well" maintained, they are just maintained to current FAA regulations and less. Then again when the spark plug comes from autozone and some smart-ass just writes "aviation" on them and charges x8 the price, what do you expect?

Check out Ahart Aviation Services in Livermore, California

Also look at Ballard Aviation in La Verne, California

Both are great schools with good reputations. That is a hard thing to find these days. If English is a second language to you, Ballard Aviation has ESL instructors. I'm not sure about Ahart, they do a lot of international training. Ballard is a newer school and recently started training international students. I would not worry about how many hours it takes to get a job. Just worry about getting your training done. Good luck:)

Minnesota State University, Mankato is a good college and is getting the authorization to do international flight training...

The reason why these flight schools do "internships" or "work for free" is because they can't legally pay you. Unfortunately, without a visa that allows you to work, you don't have any other option. Trust me, I've been there, I came to the US in 1997, and jumped through 5 different visas before going to Embry-Riddle for college courses on their F-1 visa and doing flight training at a local 141 school in 1997-1998.

2) You cannot be hired in the U.S. to work as a flight instructor without employment authorization. The J-1 visa used to allow a pilot to work as a flight instructor gain experience, but the flight schools that do offer them are expensive. However, the J-1 visa has been replaced with the M visa (since 2008).

3) Another option is to enroll in a University that offers an F-1 (4 year) college visa but you can only work for a year to gain experience after a certain number of college credits have been completed. These Universities with flight schools are more expensive that the school's that offer the M visa.

Visitors Visa and Flight Training is Illegal
 

The above post is wrong and can get you and the school in deep trouble.

The only Visa that allows you to do flight training are the F-1 and M-1 Visas. Flight schools with M-1 Visa authorization are your only choice if you do not attend a College.

There is a work option with these Visas which allow the international student to get experience to consolidate what they have learned. This work option allows the student 1 month of work for every 3 months that they were in training at that particular school. So if they took a year to go through all certificates to CFI, they can stick around and instruct for 4 months after they have applied for the work option.

If any school trains an international student on a visitors Visa they will be in serious trouble if caught by the department of State. They must inter the country on the correct Visa to receive Flight Training.
