UVSC questions

hey guys i just got enrolled in uvsc and was just curious about all your experinces. I 'm going to be working towards flight time on the side not taking any additional loands but grants and loans cover the state college anyonehave any things to say about them?

I am almost done with my BS from there. If I were to do it over again, I would have gotten a degree in something other than Aviation, but other than the degree title, they seem to be fairly descent. Some of the classes are not good to take over the internet, like Biology, but all of the aviation classes are good. One good thing about UVSC is that it isn't really expensive. You are still flying where ever you would be flying anyways, so the only additional expense is the tuition. I guess you could say the same thing if you were getting a degree in accounting, though.

Um, I would get a different degree altogether, if I were to do it over. I plan on going back to get a more "marketable" degree after I finish this one. I could have skipped this degree altogether and could just be finishing a degree that wouldn't require me to go back to have something to fall back on.

So if you have ratings, they count as units for the BS degree? How many units do you need after completing the flight training? Also what's the cost?

it cost on average 150 per standard aviation credit hour so for this semster is roughly 1800 but it's all covered by grants and scholarships for me i just pay for flight school

In short, Yes.

There are classes for each rating. The idea is that you get credits for getting the rating. If you already have the rating, you can either (1) challange the class, or (2) just take the class, take a test or two and fax in a copy of your license that shows that you have the rating.

Yeah, I enrolled this semester also. I am only 8 classes shy of my degree in business, however, I decided I had to get my ratings anyway and my employer is paying for it as long as I receive college credit for the classes so why not get a degree in aviation also since that is what I plan on doing my last 15 yrs with my current employer.

If it isn't Baylor University then you're at a little dissadvantage. I'm sorry to have to say that but it's a scientific fact.

As far as getting some flight time just hang around the FBO at airports. Your best job honest to god is to work at one. You'll meet tons of people. Today I flew a Merlin IIIB to San Antonio and ate at PF Chang's then flew back. It was awesome. My approach sucked bad today though lol. I pulled it off in the landing but for a while it was a 45 degree final lol.
