135 VFR PIC mins
Under 135.243 b the minimums for a VFR 135 PIC includes 500 total time as a requirement. I am looking into some of these 135 jobs now that I am a hair over 450 hours and a thought struck me. I have 50+ FTD hours and I am trying to figure out if that time can be used toward the 500 hour minimums for this. I have been digging through FARs and googling the crap out of it to no avail. Does anyone have any input on this and if it can be used? Once source said that it could be used toward the 1500 hour IFR PIC mins for 135 but I couldn't see anywhere where it could count toward the VFR PIC mins. Any info would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks to all in advance

Ok I think I was not specific enough in my question. I am looking for some type of direction or FAR's that answer this question. As mentioned previously it DOES count toward IFR PIC 135 minimums while not counting toward flight time it does count toward 135 requirements. I am simply looking for where I could find this covered in the FARs for VFR 135 PIC mins. Thanks |

Until that happen just keep flying, 50hrs can be done in 1 to 2 months. |

There is no exception. FTD time is NOT total time, nor is it flight time, nor is it PIC time, SIC time, or any other sort of loggable time (ASEL, AMEL, etc). FTD and full motion SIM (level C/D) gets logged in it's own column and doesn't count towards other columns. |

Don't try to "read between the lines" with the regs, especially when it comes to logging flight time and meeting minimums. The regulations are pretty specific when it comes to what you can and can't do. If there isn't a specific exception, then you can't do it. |

I was not trying to log sim time in with the rest of my time just wondering if I was eligible for these types of jobs now as I am finding some of them here and there. I will be at 500 soon enough but both today and yesterday crap weather has caused me to cancel training flights with my students and it just sucks not being at least at 500 right now. Thanks for the help all and stay safe! Keep flight instructing for a while, then get the 135 VFR, 135 IFR (if possible) and then 121. I went from 135 VFR & flight instructing to 121 because I didn't found 135 IFR until got hired @ eagle some company called me for 135 IFR. |
