build time? I am almost 21 years old college freshman(yes i started school later than usual because im from another country and needed to learn the language.) Right now i have no ratings... however by the time i transfer i will have my PPL and instrument. To finance training i will work a job Im not sure what state i want to transfer too what state has the best opportunities for instructors to build time LOTS OF STUDENTS? by the time i finish school i will be 25 or 26 will all my ratings up to CFII and multi CFI My goal is to work at a regional for 10 years then get hired by a major airline... does anyone know what % of major airline pilots are from the military? TO save time should i double major in finance/aviation to get my ratings faster then instruct at the UNI? it will cost more this way but get me to a regional faster and thats what i need right now.

1st, 10 uears may be optmistic for time spent at the regionals. As for states to fight instruct, I would say Florida is the top choice thanks to good flying weather and a load of 141 flight schools that are pretty busy. Next choice wold be california, again because of lotd of foreign flight students and good flying weather. Third choice would be TX, but choose a good city like Dallas or Houson where the student numbers are high.

Florida, California, Texas, Georgia. In that order. Alaska has a large GA population per capita too, but everyone up there is born with a pilots license, so not many CFI gigs.

I'd recommend - Flordia, So Cal, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Georgia. Alaska is tough to get in to. I worked up there for a year. You have to have a network in before people will trust you. Huge GA population once you do break in to it. Easiest way I found was the Elmendorf AFB Aero Club.
