Looking for: Safe and Cheap place for hours
Friend of mine is in need of about 70 hours PIC to convert his licenses to the JAA counterpart (making this topic on his behealf because he doesn't have anything but gmail etc).
He can basically fly anywhere in the country (he has a FAA CPL with a current flight review), all though he did want to fly in the southwest if possible. Does anyone know of a relatively cheap but safe place to build those hours? A 152 will do. Thanks in advance for any replies =) |
*Shameless bump*
Anyone have any ideas or tips? Any flightschool anywhere in the continental US? Must be someone with first hand experience of some hour building here :P |
Do you want safe or do you want cheap?
|
A compromise? As cheap as possible without putting his life at risk :P
|
Depends what you call cheap. I know of a place in Arizona where you can rent a C152 for $105/hr wet. Not sure if that is cheap enough but it is a thoroughly safe outfit.. It is out of a flying school and I found them to have excellent and safe aircraft. PM me if you want more details

Yea, I was thinking in the 70-80s range for wet if that is at all possible, maybe with a block time discount? Looking into the Air America link, thank you :)

Not at all cheap when U add all the costs together in the end....... I rented a Duchess at $195 per hour which costs me $245 to $250 per hour in the end, after all said & done........ Most important things: 1) where in USA is your friend located, 2) Is he looking to do time in single or twin..... 3) Is he open to share..... I have done a decent amount of research in the last 2 months, so pm me if U need more info. |

Hey again.
First of all, just to clarify as I've gotten a few PMs. He cannot share an airplane as the JAA don't count safety pilot as valid PIC time for the purpose intended. He is looking to rent a single-engine, as cheap as possible really, without huge chances of dying from bad mx. He is not living in the US currently. He will fly over the pond as it were to anywhere in the country basically. We have a visa waiver agreement with the USA so he can gain a visa easily. Thanks again guys, great help =). Anyone else have any experience with air America btw? |
