If you were in my shoes...
I am a Comm Multi instrument rated pilot with 300 hrs TT 50 hrs multi... graduated from ERAU... and have almost 10 years of airline work experience with DL...now for the kicker... I haven't flown in 2 and a half years... jobs we few and far between and I was out of funds... so I sadly stopped flying in May 09... now with some jobs out there again and some money back in the bank... I want to get going again... but I am not really sure on what direction I should take... so if you were in my shoes and had 10k to get back in the game... how would you spend it? Thx for the opinions/suggestions...

Tony - sorry... I still work for DL but I could part time... wanting to make flying the priority...
Grumble - man I tried in 09 before I stopped flying but the doc said I have a slight astigmatism (sp?) and that it was nonwaveable...

I showed for OCS, and on day three you do the medical in screening. Doctor tried to tell me I didn't have 20/20. I called BS, told him I had a current FAA Class 1, and I had been up for 40 of the last 48 hours due to OCS "indoctrination" and of course my vision was a little off. This guy was ready to sink my career right there before it ever got started. I trust military medicine about as far as I can throw it, and that's after having been in the system for 10+ years now. Don't like their opinion, always find another one.

Find another doctor. You gave up after one try?

With 10K you should have no problem picking up a CFI/CFII/MEI...this will allow you to regain currency and start building qualifications for bigger things. Try to find an active school to do the ratings at. Often times they will be inclined to hire you as an Instructor. Once instructing you will be able to start building your hours to make you competative for regionals, pt 135, etc.
Certainly keep your current job as it will take a while to build up a student base to keep food on the table and bill collectors at bay.

Married yes... kids no... but dog yes... with that being said, I am blessed with a very supportive family unit... thankfully my family is very versed in aviation and completely understands the good and bad with the industry... so that part is good to go
