Primary flight training schools
IS all atp a good place to get a PPL / instrument?
Thanks... |
No absolutely not. Go to your local school. You will be better off.

People on here and PPrune really dont like the big schools. It's hard to get past all their marketing too, I'm looking into All ATP and Aerosim right now and I'm going to visit their campus' this week sometime. I have heard horror stories about big academys taking money, crappy training ect...

ATP has a good product but I wouldn't recommend doing your private with them. I would go to your local FBO and start with there. I wouldn't go to Aeroism due to cost. You can get the same training all in a multi for less with ATP.

You & the poster in this case, by all means are welcome to go to ATP & AEROSIM & all other places like these... Of course there are fellow flight instructors who work there, who need to get paid & who move on to next regional job & it has to be done at someone's cost, so Pls by all means give this sacrifce in the name of Aviation....... |
I went down to look at ATP in Jacksonville and Daytona Beach along with Aerosim this past thursday and friday. ATP seems like a decent deal for the money, quick and a good amount of multi time and a job prospect as an instructor when you complete the CFI course. Aerosim was nice, but you are paying for a lot of "features" and overhead. Aerosim seems to like classroom and sims more than actual flying.

Gotta love these kids looking for certs and ratings on the quick than quality knowledge and training.

Go to ATP! Please do your training part 61 at JAX. Do not let them sell you a 141 package.

The element that large schools like AllATPS risk is skipping the careful, dedicated, painstaking, cost-ineffective aspects of flight training that tend to occur at FBO-styled flight training outfits more than they occur at faster-paced airline flight schools like ATPs. The quality GA (general aviation) flight instructor knows what is involved with getting to the airlines and many of these instructors have been to the airlines and retreated in dismay at the lifestyle. I know many such people. But this person wants to get the flight training student to think more deeply about the nature of flight safety in a larger, global sense, a sense apart from any particular income description or prestige scheme. Such instructors take it as their goal not to get their students rich by getting certain airline jobs, rather they wish to help their students appreciate safety without consideration of money because after all, how much money can buy a life after you crash an airplane?
What I would propose is trying to find a dedicated instructor that makes you certain you will be a better pilot apart from how much money/ prestige you will obtain working for some airline. First become a good pilot bar none, then become a rich fat-cat working for a company. If the latter never occurs, you still have something of value. |
