IFR Checkride Tomorrow!
Hello fellow pilots!
I have come here once again to ask for any advice for my instrument rating checkride tomorrow. As I am sure you guys know, yes, I have checkride-itis again. If you guys have any: Reccomendations Advice Do's Don'ts With taking the checkride or any past experiences, please share them! I am open to anything! Just for the record, I am flying the C-172/G for the ride! |
My advice: Your instructor probably wouldn't have signed you off if he didn't feel you were ready. Coming on APC and getting last minute advice and trying to remember it while you're doing a partial panel NDB will only make you more nervous and possibly cause you to do something you wouldn't normally do.
Make a new post tomorrow telling us you passed. |
Dont forget to Identify! stay ahead of the airplane, and remember
Prior planning prevents poor performance....have fun with it, IFR flying is awesome..let us know how you do! |
Relax, you shouldnt have to do anything you have not already done in training.
|
Good Luck
Train like you fly and fly like you train. Like pokey said, you're instructor says you're ready - so go and have fun.
I'm reluctant to give advice so as not to break YOUR routine, but (you know that was coming), if notice course/alt deviation, say so and correct for it. i.e. "ok, I'm a little high, gotta get back to X" to let the DE know you're on top of it. Have fun and let us know how it went. ps I found throwing up first helped. :) |
...drink heavily and stay up all night  or you could just relax and not look at anymore books. your instructor seem to feel that you are ready, do the same, believe in your skills and relax. you'll do just fine!
enjoy |
Stay flexible and composed. As an evaluator, obviously I want to see pilots perform to the standards, but I understand that Murphy likes to show his face at the worst possible times.
Remember...nothing Dumb, Different or Dangerous! Good luck tomorrow! |
Back in the day, it helped me to talk my way through what I was doing so the examiner knew what I was thinking, planning and doing. But just do what you were trained to do and you'll be fine. Keep it within the PTS and remember to come back and let us know you passed! Good luck!

Just a quick update folks,
The weather turned south a lot sooner than was expected so we decided to knock out the oral. 2.5 hour oral which covered pretty much everything in the PTS. When we come back on saturday, my examiner is going to review the weak spots I had today and then it is off on our flight! So far so good! |
