Commercial pilot!

Passed the checkride this morning! Did some steep turns, chandelles, lazy eights, slow flight, stalls, and 8s on pylons. The examiner was an old salt who flew B-17s. He critiqued on my abrupt control movements. He was truly an artist when it came to flying. I will have to work on being a smooth operator...I think nerves played a part on my abrupt movements. Total time now is 251.9. I look forward to being a CFI now. It's a great feeling! Time for a break then I hope to be back on the saddle.

You seem to be tearing through the ratings lately PP. Like you said - take a break and certainly don't forget to have fun along the way.
Congrats.

Thanks USMC. My goal was to get it done by the end of August. I was certainly glad to achieve it. It meant flying 10 hours a month. With my full-time job that's a lot of flying (and a considerable toll on my wallet too) Needless to say at this point I feel very much exhausted. A week away from flying, and a few celebrations, and then it's time to jump right in to the right seat and start learning to be a CFI :)

Congratulations! Best of luck on your CFIA / CFII !

Congrats! Fly safe! Instructing is very rewarding! Remember...sometimes the best instruction comes from a good demo of the maneuver, rather than just talking!

Enjoy your break...sounds well earned!

Great Pearl. Let me know if you want any more of my great "wisdom" (ahem) opinions on how to best get your next ticket.

PearlPilot 09-05-2011 02:16 PM

Thank you very much everyone. Reading a novel, some movies, and playing the guitar. In a couple of days it's time to start flying from the right seat. Cub, thank you very much for the offer, I can sure use some of your wisdom. Will send you a p.m. shortly.

Congrats Pearl. We've watched (read your posts) you progress from curious bystander to teammate. Witnessing the transformation of my former students from bystanders to skilled aviators was my favorite part of instructing and, judging from your charisma, will be yours too.

Like Cub said, let us know if you need our opinions. Just don't ever credit any of mine to me during a checkride.

Pokey, thank you for the kind words, I truly appreciate it. It has been quite an adventure. Look forward to having more!
