Do College Grades Matter To Airlines

I was wondering if the airlines take into consideration your grades in college when hiring you. I mean do they look at your transcripts at all, or do they just make shure you have a college degree. Will a couple of C's affect me? By the way do they also look at your G.P.A. I'm talking about the majors I know regionals dont require a college degree. From what I have heard they care more about your ratings and hours than your grades, but i just want to make shure, thanks.

Not as much as a DUI or a few speeding tickets will.

Depends on if you are using your college experience as a short cut. IE if you go to UND, Riddle, WMich, Purdue or one of the other aviation programs and have a 2.5 gpa, it might raise some flags, particularly if you are competing for an internship or low time interview.

These days though, a college degree isn't really required for any pilot position, particularly if you have a lot of other noteworthy experience within aviation.

That said, being able to provide a college transcript with a high gpa and good grades overall won't do anything but help you in the process.

Yes it's true, they don't care about grades just make sure you went to a accredited college not the beauty school around the corner to get your degree.

No one cares about college grades.... All interviewers ask themselves this one question when you walk into the room, and this will make or break your interview....."Can I imagine spending a 4 day with this guy?" and then when they answer that, they then ask themselves, "After that trip could I ever do another 4 day?" Get 2 YESes and you win a job! Congrats.

My friends who've interviewed and have gotten jobs told me the interviewers never even mentioned it. Didn't ask for the GPA or to see their transcript. (One friend even left out the GPA in his resume because it's not so great, and they didn't ask.)
Hotmama is right, based on all my observations and from what my airline friends tell me, a good attitude is the most important thing.
That being said, a good GPA can NEVER hurt you.

After all I've heard, good grades can help you when it comes to doing things like an internship. Many people have told me that airlines (majors) prefer the very good students, especially the ones that are doing a double-major. But again, I've only heard this and I don't know for myself yet...

Regionals, doesn't matter unless it's some bridge program.

Majors, it can make a difference if you had a 2.01 or a 3.99, but a 3.2 vs. 2.8 shouldn't matter much.

thanks I'm striving for a 3.5 just to be safe.:D
