Post Flight Training during winter months

Hello,

I am currently going to college for aviation in the Midwest and I'm trying to find a place to finish my commercial and get my multi rating done (I'm doing an aviation management degree so basically I can get the other ratings outside of my school aviation program).

It does snow where I am at now, and the weather turns nasty during the winter months... so I was thinking of going someplace warm for winter break and flying at another flight school.

I've looked around at schools in FL, AZ, TX.... but it's hard to narrow down.

Does anyone know of any good flight schools where I can concentrate and fly daily? It will be winter break so I won't have distractions like homework and I'll be able to focus on flying. I have about 3 weeks of winter break. Even if I don't finish a rating I still want to fly a lot and at least work on my ratings.

Any suggestions? If you have personal experience to share, I would really appreciate that as well.

Thank you so much in advance!

ATP in AZ or FL. See if you can get down there and bang it out...don't be surprised if it will be challenging time wise. You will pay for that kind of efficient training, but you pay extra for expectations like that! Good luck!

Sheble Aviation in Kingman, AZ. Get in, get out, get on with your career.

Just because it doesn't snow in FL, AZ, TX. Doesn't mean they don't get weather there too. The winds can still pick up strong due to a passage of a cold front that would force your instructor to cancel the flight or have him/her do the takeoff and landing. Fog still rolls into airports in FL and the ceilings can always be too low.

However if you hate snow, Florida was the only state last winter that didn't get snow. There was still frost on the wings when I was down in Jacksonville FL tho.

Miss, AL, GA, and FL rarely get snow or extremely cold weather. Normally it doesn't drop below 30 degrees here in AL and that normally doesn't get here until mid January. Not to mention, I read an article on weatherchannel.com the other day that said the south east will have a warmer winter than normal and so far, its holding true. It was 75 degrees here today. Sure we had about 10 tornadoes hit today (2 of which were less than 1/2 mile from my house) but at least its warm. Anywhere in those states you should be fine during the winter break.

LOL, that's all the south guarantees is that it will be warm. Flights get cancelled down south just as they do in the North......... East or West. Hurricanes, tornadoes down south, and Nor'Easters up north. But all kidding aside, you should be looking at other factors besides weather when making a decision about flight schools. Like your instructor, is he/she even good at teaching. Who will your instructor be. How much does it cost. How many people did your instructor send up and pass their FAA checkride on their first attempt.

I would be more worried about who's gonna be your flight instructor, then what flight school to go to and whether the weather will be cancelling the flight.

Because let's be honest I could have a dirt cheap flight school that undercuts all the flight schools in the nation, and enlist retards for instructors that barely passed their CFI certification after the 6th time. What good does that do you if the weather is sunny and warm with a dip**** instructor???

Dip**** instructors do exist in cold weather too but they normally dont make it after the first winter when they fly into known icing conditions.

What he said. Besides, planes like cold weather. I love winter flying. Trainers have heat, but they don't have air conditioning.
