AOPA CFI Renewal
I just used their online renewal. It is my first CFI renewal so I can't compare with other methods. I found the program informative and easy to use.

I recently used the AOPA FIRC online. It was not bad but you can certainly see that Jeppesen needs to get with the program and update their stock photos! I have used Gleim in the past or just flown with a DPE. Content wise it isn't any different than the others. The cool part about Gleim is you don't have to put a "packet" together and mail it to AOPA, Gleim will do all the footwork. You just sit back and wait for your temp cert in the mail once you're finished. Just my two cents.

I was in a panic about mailing stuff to AOPA. I ASSUMED I would do everything online and didn't realize I actually had to make photo copies etc and mail them out. Of course, I waited to the last week before my certificate was to expire before finishing up the course.

American Flyers, one time fee for life. It's nice not having to fork the money over every 2 years.

Amen, agreed. AOPA was the worst of the 10 online renewals I've done over the years. I keep coming back to Gleim. Quick and easy. The AOPA renewal genuinely sucked.

I used the Jeppesen CFI renewal the last time, and I found it to be pretty good. Saved me a ton of money on my normal renewal with a DPE.

i used AF in the past and had no problem. the most recent renewal was a problem. apparently their ACR (wheter he/she is new to the certification process, or not) is kinda
niave to the airman certification process. their latest mess-up in using their service in my re-certification was in depending on their ACR, and he/she screwed the pooch. due to that incompetence, i was forced to do a reinstantment ride with a DPE. |
That sucks, did they pay for it? I'm not gonna lie I wouldn't wanna go jump in a 172 and teach right now... And I wouldn't do it without a better refresher course. 121 will make you soft, I think I'm a much better pilot, but my teaching skills have plummeted. Much less take a ride again.
