Thanks for the grammar check, I'm sure I'll learn that if I went to one of those regular schools haha

I think that multiengine time is absolutely overrated. I would rather look at the procedures.

You can fly a seminole or seneca like a 150. No need of checklists at all.

In my flightschool we were using items, follow up checklists, etc.
Anything that increases your workload is good. When I transitioned to a jet, it was a peace of cake. The workload on the A320 for example is much less than on the seminole that I used to fly.

So I would look at the procedures, the way they do their briefings etc.

Cheers and good luck,

Christian

Seaduck raises a good point. Good procedures make you a better pilot. Also when it comes down to a cost comparison, getting most of your certificates done in a single engine will usually be the cheaper route. All the money you save can be put towards multi time building, this should give you more total time in the end.

I might be biased when it comes to quick track training such as at ATP, but to me it seems like these style pilot mills (don't get me wrong there are good ones out there) tend to train only to the checkride standards. They have close relationships with the DPE's they use and know exactly how to train a student to pass with that particular DPE. Personally I think that creates a huge disservice to the aviation community.

I once attempted to give an aircraft checkout to one of their CFI-CFII 3 week course grads. Sadly, he wasn't able to fly well enough from the right seat of a 172 to get my approval.

I live down the street from KTPA and went to go check out ALL ATP in the vincenity. Off hand, I got a bad vibe from it. I walk in and no one didnt even welcome me in. So I set myself down, put my 2 cents in someone else conversation until i was noticed. he show me some of the programs they have. from zero to MEI and "guaranteed instructor job" for 59,990; which is not bad at all in price. but for me, i do not think 150 days is good enough for me to know my stuff. FASFA pays a good portion of the program. Also doing your gen. ed classes brings the price down even more. but you will need a loan to pay for the rest, unless you have a rich family to pay for it. If you do, please dont hesitate to send me a check for 64k lol.

ATP really knows what they are doing. I believe in the last 5 years especially, they have really come into their own.

Can anyone give me some insight into what a "normal" week of a CFI consists of? If someone from Ari-Ben can offer some insight...that'd be great. If not, Ewfflyer and Pearl Pilot, or anyone else out there....I'm all ears!

Edavis and Mike400. Both of you need to forget about aviation schools and go back to a "real" school and learn to read and write the English language. Don't forget, you have to show proficiency in English for those fine folks at the FAA.

I hate to sound like a nitpicky jerk, but I hope you don't present yourselves this way when you're actually sending in a resume on heaven forbid, in an interview. Having set on pilot selection boards at a large major for several years, one can't overemphasize how important it is to make a positive impression with that first meeting. You may only get one or perhaps two chances and I'd hate to see a really smart candidate who is a good pilot "roll over and crash" simply because of a poor first impression.

Off my soapbox and back for another ice cold Smithwick's. Oh, Flyhayes, no, there isn't an echo in here. Must be you.

Cheers Mates
