Higher Power vs Crew Pilot Training

I plan to go to Dallas to get my 737 type. Any pros/cons between HPA and CPT. Cost looks to be the same

HPA is the better choice. Mostly SW people doing the training and they do some interviews there as well. SW and HPA have a relationship, that is if thats where you're looking at to try and work.

Pan Am Academy offered the 737-200 type for $4,995 recently. Not sure what it is now. Don't get too stuck on that hyped up relationship between HPA and SWA. I know a couple guys who ended up going to HPA and spending a lot more on the type thinking that they could make some contacts to land an interview, but they didn't, and are in the same boat as everyone else.

HPA, quality program, but no guarantees of any SWA interview.
(Although they did get me one)

I just did my 737 type with HPA in December 2011. Cost was $7,380 for the 2 week course. If you're military and have the post 9/11 GI bill, it will cover 100%. (takes somewhere between 7-9 months of GI bill benefits though). I would highly recommend HPA. The people there are great! The training is fast and furious. They will teach you what you need to know but a lot of self study is required in the evenings to really understand the systems and prepare for the oral eval.

Just called Pan Am and 200 course is $4,995....2,300 less than the others. Seems like the winner unless someone knows why they would not be a good option.

I trained with CPT recently. Great training, great team of guys, they make sure you get the training you are paying for. The accelerated, Self-study course took us 10 days from day one to checkride day. two thumbs up.

Got mine at HPA.

More expensive than other places, but I will say they have former SWA teaching the course. So great opportunity to network. They will also walk your resume in to SWA. Also the staff there is absolutely awesome. Some of the nicest people you'll ever meet.

When you have the type, and if you want to stay current, they allow guys to come back and sit seat support for new candidates as well. Haven't had the chance to do so yet, but it's there.

What ever you choose it will be a great experience I'm sure! Enjoy and good luck!
