Hillsboro Aviation?

Anyone here who is attending or has attended Hillsburo Aviation? I'm looking into the program they have with Portland Community College. It seems like a well organized school. Just looking for any info you guys may have.

I went to school here and worked here as a flight instructor 7 years ago. I’m sure a lot has changed in the past 7 years but I have nothing bad to say about the place, it was a great place to learn and work. The flight instructor pay wasn’t great but in many ways they treated there employees better than a lot of the regional airlines out there. And the northwest was a great place to learn how to fly. PM me if you have any specific questions.

I stumbled onto their website today and one thing that was very appealing was, no sales tax in Oregon.
If one was to spend 50k on their training, imagine on average 8% sales tax would be $4000. Their housing looks good too.

Let us know how it goes.

I hear they've turned into a pilot mill. They focus mostly on international students, and since their student visas have a time limit, they get first dibs on aircraft. Prepare to be bumped a lot.

Also, the weather is pretty bad there, just getting off the ground can take you a couple days. Plus side is, instruments is usually in weather.

All second-hand, reliable knowledge. Take it for what it's worth.

EDIT: Check out Pro Air & Central Oregon Community College if you are interested in PNW flying.

Look into Lane Community College in Eugene- the college actually owns the airframes in Eugene and rental rates were very low compared to other 141 programs when I was there (granted, it was a while ago).

The instructors at HIO usually have less flight time than the students... and they charge twice as much. Good deal.
