Now, as I understand, an FAA Type rating won't transfer to other licenses is that correct?
I have an FAA License and an ANAC License (Brazil), on which license would it be more beneficial to get the type rating under? Not that I'm rushing out of here to go buy a type rating, but if I get one on my ANAC license there's a small process I can go through to get it on the FAA license.
thanks.
ps. I guess the main question is: Would I need to take another type rating in the country of employment or is FAA + Type rating enough?

After you report for training, you will need to take the knowledge exam for license conversion and sim training + checkride anyway. Usually you can waive some subjects doing a license conversion depending on the individual country requirement but unlike the FAA you will need to sit for several papers.
Check with your potential employer to find out their specific requirement just to be safe.

You might want to check that "small process" to move a foreign type to a FAA certificate. You can get a 61.75 with the types limited to "VFR only." Then you can pass the FAA Instrument test and have "US test passed" added to the 61.75 cert. If you then get a regular FAA certificate you can have the type transfered if the training was given by the holder of a FAA CFI. But if you already have a regular FAA certificate you can't get a 61.75.

So get it whenever you like.

My buddy already got his and doesn't plan on leaving the Marines until he absolutely has to... go ahead and get it.

A type rating is virtually useless without time on type. Look at the various hiring boards. In my opinion, these PFT programs are only good for people who have family or VERY close friends already embedded at the company they want to get hired on at. And yes, as many have already pointed out; whatcha-gonna-do about your 1500 hours??

Total time is not an issue--I currently have over 3000 PIC hrs.

Simulator after TR
Suppose you are a part-time CFI and also work at Ramp for an airline (Delta, for example); is there any chance to get permission from the Sim dept to use a simulator after you buy a type rating anywhere?
I mean, practice in a simulator when it is not being busy, like 3am.
If the airline approve, it would be free or at least charge the employee 1/3 for the sim hour price?
Thanks a lot.
