Default Used Headset Urgently Needed

Hi Folks,

Anyone has a used headset ( for aeroplane ) to sell ASAP ? Im instructing and it's the Caribbean, they dont use headsets and Im gonna go deaf LOL.. Its wasted time when I have to shout over the sound of the engine to my student. I will like to have this headset and give to whichever student I have when we fly dual.

It doesnt have to be a glitzy one. If its old and worn thats ok , as long as its working well , that will suffice !

Appreciate your help. thank you

How about you just require your students to purchase a headset for themselves. You shouldn't sacrifice your own hearing just because your students may be too cheap to purchase a headset. I have a spare that I will rent out to newbies before they go out and purchase their own.

+1

I could have shaved 5-10 hours off of my PPL by purchasing a headset. On the plus side, I can't hear a thing my wife says

Also, insist that they purchase a decent headset. At a minimum they should look for something in the $300 range. The ones that purchase the el-cheapo $150 headsets, often cut the lessons short due to headaches caused by inferior quality. In the long run they will save money with a better headset by completing their training faster.

I am totally ****ed because the flight school hasnt got headsets!!!!! I mean, they are like behind Gods back with that mentality ... I mean, my home country isnt a hole in the wall nation but this is like ***? Headsets ? Whats that ? Its like having a newborn run around without diapers...
And my ears are sensitive and had problems with wax build up so I can do without the excessive noise...

Flight schools are not expected to supply headsets. It would be out of the norm. Have your students buy a passive-type headset. David Clark H10-13.4 passive headsets are on Ebay & Amazon all the time for two hundred dollars. A fine student headset which can be used for years. You are not correct expecting a school to supply headsets. I keep a pair of David Clarks around for my passengers and my new students, but I insist that if they are serious about flying they buy their own within a few lessons. It is a sign they are serious. Aviation is not a poor man's game- they should have a few hundred bucks for a basic headset. When they balk at spending 2-3 hundred for a headset I tell them that I spent a thousand for mine, and they get the point.

I never didnt say I expect the school to supply headsets but they should be avail for purchase by students. I bought my own from the start because its an investment to take me through
