Default Foreign airlines ab-initio trng in the US

Hello,

I would like to find out if any foreign airlines still train ab-initio cadets in the US.

If so where and what airlines?
Would you have any contact info for US flight schools providing such training?

Thank you very much

I flew into Phoenix-Goodyear airport last month (KGYR) and I noticed that there were a LOT of little pipers there with Lufthansa logos on the vertical stabilizers. If was really funny, because the pilots in the pattern had accents that were soo thick. At one point, I could have sworn that I heard a pilot say "Guten Tag Goodyear tower" LOL. I don't know the name of the school, but I'm sure it's not to hard to Google it.

That would be Lufthansa ATCA. The British blokes in the pattern are from Oxford. When the pattern gets crowded it sounds like "Battle of Britain" round two. Lufthansa has Bonanzas with the Lufthansa logo on the tail, Oxford has Warriors and Senecas with an Oxford Logo (also a blue tail on a white aircraft).

With the exception that the RAF guys actually knew what they were doing.

Are these ab initio programs an option for students seeking a career in the US?

Not that I have seen. These ab initio programs are typically for foreign airlines and they bring some of the training to the US for reduced costs and good VFR weather.

Specifically referring to Oxford and Lufthansa down in Arizona, those students don't even get FAA ratings, they get JAA/EASA ratings.

Talked to some of the locals at Goodyear years ago. You're hired by Lufthansa with 0 flight time. Months of classroom training in Germany and then off to Goodyear to training to the private level. Then back to Germany for more months of classroom. Back again to Goodyear for COMM MEL. Then back to Germany for SIM for the Bus.

Yup, they get hired before starting training. It is extremely selective. However, Lufthansa has recently switched over to the Multicrew Pilot License.

I don't know how LH handles this, but Oxford did run a few students through a concurrent FAA program so they could keep their 141 certification and sponsor visas.
