Question???? I am seriously considering getting my cfi, cfii and meI for $7500 here in tennessee. My question...Is it worth the investment because I have figured that it will pay for itself after about 375 hours of flying at the rate of 18-20 dollars an hour I am expecting to make. I will be willing to move to the DFW or Florida areas. I am trying to build some time the next 2 years after my atp written. thanks.
If you can get all three ratings for 7500, that's a pretty good deal. Most places will charge at least that for MEI, so you're winning on cost. I got about 700 hours in two semesters at a university flight school, enough to help me get to a regional with my previous flight time included. DFW and Florida will get you flying enough to get 1000 a year.

Thank you so much for your input. I am in a pretty weird situation. I was caught up by the recession and now I am back to normal. I had money issues and unfortunately flying had to take a back seat for a period of time. I am in my 30's and I need to build some time like alot of guys and girls inorder to avoid that 20k atp course. I have 24 months and I am thinking instructing will get me there before time is up. I will only need 900-1000 after getting my cfi and I think it can be done and jump to a regional soon after. DFW would be a fit because its a hub city with good instructing opportunities. Needless to say I can pack up and leave if the right opportunity comes around. Single, no wife or kids so I think I am in good shape. I heard about the flight school there in Denton and I find it impressive if they fly as much as they say.

^^Agreed. I didn't work there personally, but my roommate did. He grew frustrated after about 10 months there, but was able to get enough time to leave. That was almost a year ago, so I'm not sure about the current situation. Either way, the DFW metro has a lot of flight schools and there are other opportunities like banner towing and traffic watch that can be done on the side.

Can anyone tell me about housing for instructors who relocate to the area. I plan on having my cfi's (all 3) soon. And can anyone also tell me what life is like for a single man in the DFW area including denton. I'm single and would like to have alittle fun while in texas.

Denton is a college town with two schools. It has a pretty nice downtown square that has a lot of bars and restaurants. There is also the required bar strip that any college has...
So there is plenty of housing and two legged deer running around.
Hope you don't mind hipsters though...

A quote from US Aviation's Career page on Facebook:
Then it gives an email which I didn't copy over because spammers are notorious for trolling forums for email addresses to send to.
As for Denton, I am a single man moving there pretty soon (hopefully). There's a pretty fair number of restaurants and such since it is a big college town. You shouldn't have much trouble finding something to do on the weekend and US Aviation is full of other instructors who are probably pretty close in age to you - I think most people make friends at work.

I was thinking that Denton had plenty of two legged deer running around. I hope its always hunting season there. I love to fly and I like to work and when Im off I would love to see the town and find those two legged deer. I'm working hard keeping focused in order to move and to be apart of the greater DFW area. I'm excited to be able to fly and keep learning my craft. As long as I can instruct alot and have two legged deer in the town I will be happy.

I've been doing research on the flying in denton. I read that denton was the busiest single runway airport in the nation. Do near misses happen often? And how confusing is the language barrier in the pattern? I also read that the controllers have asked planes to land because of language issues with students. Any truth to all of this?
