:-)

Denton is the busiest contract towered single runway airport because of USAA. The controllers are great though...

You do know what a two legged deer is right?

If I'm going to pack up and head to Denton in the very near future there better be LOTS of 2 legged deer. I'm sure Denton and the DFW area won't disappoint me. lol.

Nah, Oshkosh is only the busiest for one week out of the year. Outside of EAA AirVenture, it's like every other small towered airport. There's Oshkosh Truck's aircraft, a small flight school with seven planes, Sonex Aircraft, and a small number of others that make regular flights.

That "World's Busiest Control Tower" banner only gets hung up briefly around the airshow.

What is the flight interview portion like? It's been a while since I did maneuvers in a Skyhawk, not sure what to expect?

Can anyone tell me about standardization and what the process is like. I'm planning a big move and I don't want any surprises. I would like to be prepared before I leave. All information and insight would be helpful. Thank you so much.

I'm not sure what it is like these days but it used to be 5 days worth of class and tests. Not particularly difficult but not easy. I would be prepared to work. I would brush up on your basic flight and private level knowledge. Basic aerodynamics and such. When I was there, this was definitely the weak point of most stands classes. IFR stuff never has really been a problem. But seeing how you'll most definitely start out in private, I would focus hard on the basics that you most likely have forgotten.

oh yeah and FOI's. You won't believe how much this helps teaching the Chinese.

Cheers!

Have you interviewed yet?

Thanks so much for the information. No I have not interviewed yet but I am more than seriously considering heading to Denton. At this point I'm doing lots of research on these types of schools and choosing based on my billable hours and weather in the colder months. I like the idea on the pipeline program even though I have heard negative things about envoy. I'm not letting what I can't control help me to make my decision. And it's not about the money either but I have bills like everyone else so I'm basically considering all aspects and angles. This move would be permanent most likely and if I chose Denton I will be a resident of DFW for the foreseeable future considering envoy has a base there and I would only have to move once and not 2-3 times chasing opportunities. Looking at one school in Florida as well. I love sunny weather and beaches along with everything it brings lol but DFW would be more of a permanent thing than Florida at this point.

Rog.
Denton was a move for me from Ohio and has been my home for 5 years. Between being a student there and instructing I was at Usaa for almost 4 years. I was definitely able to make a decent living there. However I would make sure to do your research about dfw versus Florida if flight instructing is your main goal. There is really only one school in the dfw area where you can make serious hours (billable and flight) and you haven't interviewed there yet... however I am sure that you can get a job there just fine.
Florida has many more schools to offer with lots of hours to be had... I know this because my job now is in Florida. Lol
Best of luck

Cheers
