From what i've been able to see so far, this place is great for those looking to build time fast! The language barrier on either side (contract/international) looks pretty intense but i'll be treating it as a learning experience. Instructors here fly a LOT, i think the average we were told was 100 a month. Standards was fast paced and informative, I feel prepared after a week of class work. They do appear to be hurting for instructors due to the amount of instructors leaving(built time and moved on)/ and the amount of students coming in. I'm pretty sure they had students assigned to all of us the day we got here, just had to pass through stans/written/checkout flight. Overall, seems like a good place to be(disclaimer: again, i'm a new hire) but the staff seems very chill, instructors build time fast, and you get your eyes opened by flying around the dallas/ft.worth bravo with students whose english skills may be (are) questionable. Ill post an update when i've been here a little longer and have become properly jaded.

Thanks for posting! I hope you have a great experience at USAA.

USAA Fleet

Just had a fleet question for those currently at USAA:

I see they are currently selling all of their Diamond aircraft on Trade A Plane and I wondered if anyone knew what their future fleet plans are?

Guessing Diamond are not going to be in those plans

'Tis true... The diamonds don't fly nearly enough to quantify their existence. My guess they will be replaced with more cessna products.

You guess correctly. There simply aren't any other planes as cost effective as older 152's and 172's.

Two quick questions:

First, I sent them a resume about two weeks ago, and heard nothing back yet. Do they prefer an application over a resume, or does it just take a little while for them to get back to us?

Secondly, I have everything but my MEI, which I'll be doing as soon as I get employed. Do they still consider you if you only have your CFI/CFII, or do you not have a shot without your MEI?

1. You should hear back by then end of the second week. If its already been that long, please use the number on the website and ask for David Adams. This is the second time this has happened. Not sure why. Might be getting filtered as spam or something.

2. USAA certainly considers CFI/CFII and you can get your MEI on the job.

If you only have your CFI can you still get hired? Or do you need your CFII as well?

You can be hired as a CFI.

It may be a good idea to get your CFII and MEI while working though.

So whats going on with the "flight hold" with some of your students. Is there really a 2.5 million dollar bill that is unpaid?
