Default Approach too high?

Just wanted some comments on my approach here... I always tend to come in on the high side, I feel like making a steeper approach is the way to go, this way in case of emergency I can still make the field... Pros cons to this type of approach? How do you make your approaches?

You will probably get a bunch of different responses, but I think it looked fine. You can tell if your approach is too steep if you end up coming too fast a floating past the touchdown zone.

Personally when I fly a light aircraft, I nearly only do power off 180s or short field approaches that both have tight patterns with steep descent angles. That way I gain more practice so if I lose the engine or have to go to a short field it is a non-event. Also, it is just more fun.

After watching it again I noticed that you didn't even have to slip it, so it could have been steeper.

Nice landing approach and landing. Ahh, the sound of the stall horn in the flare and landing roll. Now that's a sound I haven't heard in a long time. Personally, I'd rather be a tad bit on the high side in a single engine airplane than on the low side. The descent was stable and even ended up with 1 white & 1 red on short final.

Looks good, I would just bring the power to idle sooner instead of flaring halfway down the runway because of excess airspeed in ground effect.

Not bad! I really hate watching guys drag in a single on short final. I agree about bringing it to idle sooner.

As long as you are not actually fast, I prefer those approaches in gusty and wind sheer conditions, because you are at a lower AOA and you have more reserve power in contrast to dragging it in or even what might seem "normal" but is actually low in a light airplane due to excessive headwind. You got to manage that energy by reducing power early enough and rounding out high enough to get to the speed range where an increase in pitch reduces sink rate, but overall I like the steeper approach.

Thanks for the comments guys.. I think i'll continue to fly high approaches in singles, but I might try to land with a bit less float...

Someone on youtube commented that my approach was terrible... But I'm not sure why he said that, I thought my approach was ok?
