rickair777 why no turbo-prop? I already have a possible job lined up to be an FO in one. Is this not a good way to build hours for the majors? I heard the FedExf guys get paid, but pay for it with the crazy schedule.
JamesNoBrakes, thanks for the valuable input! I've been reading a lot of what you have to say! I've heard sit. awareness is pretty high on the list.

Going to have to wave the B.S. flag here... You haven't started training (going to waste your money at a puppy mill), you want to fly for peanuts (in fairness you said "food"), be the best (least crashes or missed approaches lol), AND somehow we are to believe you are 30 and have an FO gig lined up already. How much are you going to pay to sit in that right seat?

Maybe you should lookup the word possible in the dictionary. Nothing is done deal until it is so. Was raised to network that is what I did; little hint for you, if people like you they will help you. And yes I love to fly, am I the only one left here that does? Lastly, to what end does raising the BS flag get you? Can you just help me. You obviously know more, I'm just trying to learn mate.

Thanks!! And yes money is important. But I've been mentored to keep in mind that if you are doing it just for the money you will be miserable!

If you don't care who you work for, you'll be flying a sh!tbox with 19 write-ups for a management that doesn't care, getting paid next to nothing, living in an undesirable part of the country all the while bringing the rest of us down just so you can live the dream.
I am writing to this to help you, but it's also self-preservation for myself and on behalf of all the other pilots who have struggled for fair work rules, a decent QOL and fair wages.
Money is most certainly not everything, and I don't suggest you chase the best paying job solely for the money. I just ask you reconsider that you don't care what job it is just so you can fly. Otherwise you're alienating yourself from all those who came before you.

I've come to assume "the industry" (and I don't care who I fly for or what nor care about money) defines the best as the safest. Least amount of missed approaches, crashes etc. If I'm the PIC all I would care about is bringing the bodies or boxes behind me home safe. The people who do that the most, I would assume are the best??
Once you have invested thousands of your dollars, and years of your life, just trying to get into this industry, you'll start to care about both who you fly for, and the money.
It happens to the best of us...
Even if you are successful, you become the Best Pilot, and get hired by the Best Airlne, some a-hole CEO, or something like 9-11 will come along and destroy your career.
Ask any of the Best Pilots at American Airlines or United, or Eastern about that.

Well, if you are willing to "fly for food" at any point, why should anyone ever pay you anything more? Shouldn't you just be happy to be flying at all times? You're thinking if you do this at some point it will pay off. Management is thinking that if people will do it at any time, they can always find bodies to fly airplanes for that price.
