CFI-I Written Question

Hi all,

Hopefully two simple questions. I'm about to start studying for my CFI-I written and I'm wondering if the test bank questions are the same as the instrument written? I have a question bank book for the instrument written and would use that if the CFI-I picks off questions from that bank.

The second thing I'm wondering is if anyone has any advice on a good accelerated CFI-I program? I've search and found several on the internet, but if there are any personal suggestions on ones that may not have "hidden costs" or "instructors just looking to build time", that would be great.

Thanks for your advice!

I took the instrument airplane and CFII written on the same day. The questions on both tests were almost exactly the same and all came from the Gleim instrument test prep book. This was about 4 years ago, however I doubt it has changed much since then.

Sorry dont have any recs on an accelerated program. I would suggest not going through ATP or similar place as they charge way too much for the add on. I got my CFII at my local FBO, less than 3hrs of flight time.

I used Sheppard Air to study for the CFI-I written. I literally studied only the day before the test and I got a 98%. You can't go wrong with Sheppard Air. I walked out of the test in less than 15 minutes and the proctor asked me "did you use Sheppard Air?" The questions were the same as the ones I studied.

+1 Sheppard Air is the only way to go to study for any written!!!

Right now the question bank for the instrument exams is updated with new material quite often. I personally would not trust any other prep except Sheppard Air for accurate content.

+1 on Sheppard Air

The CFII and Instrument writtens are very similar although not exactly the same. You could probably get away with using the resources you currently have if you knew that information well.

There is no need to advertise the 15 minutes performance.

I would recommend Gleim. Their programs are great, I used them for my FOI and my ATP and loved it.

+1 for Sheppard. Money very well spent. I used them for Commercial, CFI, and ATP.
