Guys/gals...good luck in this program and I hope you make it. What ever you do, don't get caught up in the "I get to interview for AA in a couple/few years". If I know AMR, and I kinda think I do, they can/will pull the rug out from underneath you overnight.

Default American Eagle Stability?

Can anyone tell me why American Eagle is hiring so aggressively even though they are loosing routes and not updating their fleet?

Do they have purchase orders out o new aircraft or what? If Skywest had a program like this my application would be in the mail TOMORROW, but I am not even sure American Eagle will be around in 12-18 months...

Any insight?

btw, I am 300hrs shy of ATP mins (4 months out) with no clue what to do next...

If you're 300 hours short of ATP mins, you are probably pretty close to meeting 135 mins (1200 hours). Go work for a 135 operator for a few months and build that time. Easy day.

Default AE Program

I'm new on this forum. Just got back to flying after a long injury. Like many of you, I saw that AE program at Transpac. I've got over 1500 total, but still want to instruct for at least 6 months before going to regionals. I feel like after being gone so long, it will be better to instruct for a while to get back into flying. That is of course after getting current again as well!!!
How about Transpac? Will they hire a pilot with 1500 total? Seems like it could go either way! Too much time means I'll be gone too soon. Anything?

I agree 100%!
I have a total of at least 820 hrs and 150 multi. I think I need to flight instruct first. I joined the Army in Jan of 2010 because of the bad economy and couldnt fly with them because of my age. Im finished with the army after Christmas.

Skywest does have a program like this. Call McAir at KBJC, I saw a flyer for it when I was in there a few months ago.

If you are that close to ATP I wouldn't bother though. Just fly it out and apply through the normal channels. Though you may be interested in order to "secure" your position through the back door so to speak ...

I am curious if anyone has actually gone to TransPac with the flow through. I know they are hurting for new instructors right now.

Does anybody have any kind of update on this program? I'm interested i n applying, but I'm not sure what their ideal candidate is. I barely meet the minimums for qualifying, so do I even have a chance?
I was also wondering if an instructor is forced to join with AE after meeting ATP minimums, or it they could choose to go to another regional that offered better pay, incentives, etc? Is there a contract that must be signed to be hired on my AE?
