737 Type - Higher Power or CPT

Hello! Looking for a comparison: Higher Power and CPT. What can those who have attended say about their 737 Type Rating training?

Anyone recently attended the CPT NG Ad on?

I can't speak to CPT, but will say that HP is a fantastic company, great people. Classes are going to start filling up due to the ATP certification changes that will start next July, so if you are getting our ATP get it done before the summer. PM me for specifics.

I took the CPT (Classic) course in April 2012. After comparing to friends that did HP, I found CPT to be less formal to include dress required during systems and the instructor demeanor. Comms with the head dude Ray were tedious as he is older (70ish) and email isn't really his thing but it all worked out fine. It is a wham bam thank you ma'am course and, coming from the mil side, I felt strange to say the least. But....I did the prestudy and with their systems classes and sims (SWA sims) had no problem with the check. They more than prepared me for what I needed to do.

I would recommend it but be prepared to be less than dazzled by their methods. In the end, the type looks the same as anyone else's. I have friends that got their type at both places and got hired. SWA doesn't seem to care.

A type rating is a type rating is a type rating.

HPA was a great program. Very straightforward and professional. Also if you are using a Post 9/11 GI Bill they'll prep all the paperwork for you and all you pretty much have to do is sign to get reimbursed from the VA.

Thanks everyone! Very helpful. Sounds like I need to choose between basic, or NG. Thoughts?

I did the classic program several years ago flying a 300. If cost is a factor I would fly this one. The EFIS in the NG make that a very nice sim to fly as well if costs are equivalent I would fly this one.

I had friends at Higher Power and feel like the connections I made there helped me get the 121 job I have now.

Merry Christmas!

Excellent advice. The team at HP advised they see fewer 300's at airlines that are hiring. I'm thinking NG but costs more - but using VA so funds will cover either. Since HP is a closer drive, thinking that will be my plan. Thanks.

Why are you wasting money/time on a 737 type? Do you have a job offer in hand from SWA?

Arvin,
I concur with all especially the connections. Mark met with a contact this week for a potential 121 job for myself. Hoping for the best.
