Finding Old Airport codes

I need some help with this. I am in the process of moving my logbook on line. It goes back a few decades, and some of the airports I flew to in the 1980's and 1990's have changed airport identifiers. This happened mainly when AWOS and ASOS came about, and they needed to get rid of the numbers in the identifier.

Here's the question: is there someplace I can find what the old airport codes? My software doesn't recognize the former codes, and I didn't always record the name of the airport.

Thanks in advance for serious assistance!

Try Googling 'AVN datasheets'
You should come up with this public use URL:
AVN Datasheet Systems

Chose Airport
Then type in the 4-letter current ID of one of the airports that you are interested in.
Chose 'Detailed'
Once the data comes up, scroll down to the 'Remarks' section.
It is possible that the name change will be detailed in one of the remarks.

Other than that - calling the current airport manager listed on the SkyVector or AirNav website and asking for the information might be your only way.

I also tried Googling the airport ID to see what websites popped up.
There might be some historical website or something that would lead you to the information.

Good luck.

I just googled "F67" airport and found this -

AirNav

I tried USMCFLYER's link and it gave the date the identifier changed!

Hey, guys, thanks! The airnav list will help out tremendously.

Now, how about airports that are completely closed? I know I've got some of those too!
