Should I be doing anything?
 

Question-

I am going to one of the flight academies in florida in the fall. I was wondering if there is anything that I should be doing to prepare myself and get a headstart or if i should wait until school starts?

I don't have my ppl and have very little flight time

Any insight is welcomed

If you're going to DCA - STUDY. study study study
They are all about procedures and book knowledge. You can't get the procedures until you get there, but you can study! If you already have your private, and are starting with your instrument rating at DCA - study NDB approaches. DCA doesn't have GPS!!!!!! - you'll do a lot of NDB approaches!

I am going to DCA. You obviously do or did. How do you like it? Alot of people in these forums are really negative towards it. I just feel it will be a good fit for me.

I am not really worried about the studying b/c i have always been a good student. I just cant wait to get down there and start my training.

any advice would be appreciated.

I used to go there, at JU. Overall, most of the DCA staff are pretty good people. JU left a really bad taste in my mouth. You need to realize, before you start - you will pay a couple thousand dollars more, each semester, than what you were quoted. DCA quotes their minimum prices - and those prices are locked for the next 2-3 years! We had people asking them to raise their prices so that they could get more money from their student loan companies, and DCA can't b/c they're under a contract that won't let them raise their prices. Also, raising their prices would drive away potential students - so, you can see their predicament.

Just be sure that you have looked at all possible options as you go into DCA. There are other ways to get your pilot qual's and your education, rather than looking for 2-year or 4-year Aviation Degrees. It may be for you, it may not, just be sure to look at lots of different options - they're out there.

I already have my degree in Business Administration. Just need the flight training part now. Thanks for the insight. Do you have any recommendations as far as readings or anything else I should do prior to enrollment?
