New to the field of commercial aviation
I am currently 22 and I have began to look into become a commercial pilot.
Is it too late to start? I plan on getting my private license at AFI in Fullerton... Is that a good school? I read the FAQ at the top of this thread, so if there is anything else that you could tell me or warn me about... It would awesome! Thanks. |
Not too late to start at all. I would get your private/instrument if its affordable. (Avoid loans if possible) and then decide to continue with commercial. I don't have any info on that school.
Do you have an end goal with aviation? That will help better answer your questions. |
Its not too late at all. Im going through the process right now at 29. Aiming to get my first flying gig before I turn 30, and ultimatly get to a major before 40, leaving 25years to work at said major.
As always in aviation.....this is all subject to the crazy job market conditions we live in:D |
Please don't base your decision on my reply; however AFI has been around for a long time and I have never heard anything bad about them. They are a family operation and have trained many folks that have gone on to very successful careers. The owners are good people.

Not at all I just got my private before I turned 22... Think about it your buddies around your area are going to be doing the same thing for the next 40 years. You got 43 years left before you have to retire.

I didn't start Navy training until 24. You're in a great position. Get your hours as fast as possible.
