Richmond area flight school
Hey everyone,
I've been looking to get into a career in aviation. I am living in Richmond Virginia. The only school that I know of in the area is ATP, which has a lot of mixed reviews on. I was wondering if y'all knew of some others.
Thanks!

I own a flight school located in New Kent County, 10 miles east of RIC. My full time instructor graduated from ATP less than 2 years ago. He'd be happy to give you his opinion of the pros and cons of both schools. We only get a handful of career minded students as we don't offer multi instruction, but some get all their single engine ratings with us and then add on multi later. Search the web for New Kent Aviation if you want to contact us.

I know a few folks that have taken lessons at Heart of Virginia Aviation at Hanover.

Yes, HOVA isn't a bad choice and they have a twin Tecnam. They are the North American distributor for Tecnam, so they focus on light sport aircraft but last I checked they also had a 172 for training. Then down at Chesterfield you have the Wingnuts flying club. I don't know if they will get you from 0 time through the commercial and CFI or not. One of the Wingnuts instructors also works part time for us, and he occasionally brings commercial students to us as we have the only single engine complex aircraft in the area.
Again, feel free to contact us if you have any questions. We don't do high pressure sales, and we don't try to convince you that if you learn to fly you can be an airline captain making $250,000/year in just a few short years!
