Don't go unless your writtens are both done and your lesson plans are at least mostly done..

And ask if they will schedule your checkride in advance. Otherwise you could be going home with just a sign off and no certificate.. They need to book your checkride in advance. Only certain flight schools know how to do this..

Thanks. My lesson plans and written exams are complete. I hear the FSDO up there can be really slow so thanks for the advice.

You're most likely going to be getting your CFI initial through one of the guys at the Sac FISDO. The SJC FISDO is a mess, Oakland is almost non existent from what I hear. Go with the someone from FAA. From the guys I've talked to the FAA examiners don't have outrageous fees.

The FAA examiners - if you are talking about the actual inspectors from the FSDO - don't have any fees.
