Learning FAR's for practical purposes

hey all,

I am in the process of studying for several interviews with part 121 operations and would like to become fully conversant with the FAR's.

I hold an FAA ATP (and greencard) but have never worked in the US before. I used Shepard Air to prepare for the ATP written and passed with flying colors however I don't think the written exam prep really gives you a deep knowledge of the FAR's.

I have started reading through the FAR's on my IPAD app and find them to be so full of legal speak, cross references and sub headings etc that it is very difficult to easily understand the main intent behind each regulation.

Is there any material available that provides a plain spoken summary of the FAR's that can be easily understood and will act as a useful reference?

Regards

The best book I've found for addressing basic regulations is the Federal Aviation Regulations Explained, by Kent Jackson. He stopped publishing the book on 119 and 135 regulation, I believe, and no longer puts out material on Part 121. His book on Part 61 and 91, however, is quite enlightening and covers not only explanations, but Chief Legal Counsel interpretations and actual legal cases.

Presently Kent produces three books, which are published through Jeppesen.

Great looking resources. Been looking for a better way to get those in my head.
