Another Logbook Question

Actually 2 Quick logbook questions:

1) In my Professional logbook I have been sure to stick with black ink for all entries however I used blue ink for my signature on each page. I was told by most people that as long as you stick with one thing and go with it, it doesn't matter. A week ago an Assistant chief said I should be using black for everything. Do I go back and trace my signatures with black ink and go black from now on? Or just run with the "as long as you stick to one thing its alright" train of thought?

2) Page numbering question. Since the entries of a page really go across both sides of the book once its open would you say that page 1 is on the left and page 2 on the right, or that page 1 encompasses the left and right panel? Just a curiosity question.

Thanks

1) Don't retrace over your signature in black ink. just go with black from now on.
2) Why are you numbering pages??? anyway, 1 page is left and right

Relax...

1) There is no official ink color requirement. Black is normally used because the military DOES require black and civilian aviation has inherited a lot of military culture. I'd probably stick with one color though.

2) Number the pages any way you want.

Thanks for the info and the background! From now on I'll just stick with the black ink.

The second question was just out of curiosity; before I posted the question I did a search on logbooks and a lot of entries talked about page numbering... was just wondering if people actually number the pages to start with and what the number system was that people were using.

Also out of curiosity, do most people cut the edges of their filled pages?

Your logbook is your personal record and you can use any color or mix of colors you want. You can use crayons.

I would advise you to keep it neat; you may have to show it to potential employers and they might judge you on it.

My personal choice is Black Gel pens, like the Pilot G-2 05. I like the nice dark black ink. I use it on everything.
