Need Advice or Help

Hi everyone.

I'm new to this board so I just wanted to ask for some advice and say hi. Well first thing first, hi everyone and thanks for having me here its a great pleasure being among pilots and co-pilots of all different aircraft. I joined this forum because I love planes and everything that has to do with them but especially flying them. I am 17 years old living in NYC, NY and was wondering if you guys could give me some advice as to what school or what I should do to make my dream of becoming a commercial airline pilot to become true. If you guys could give me some specific school names that you went to and it worked for you, or if you know of a good school and you could mention it here that would be great too. I don't have any degrees or nothing. I'm in 12th grade and about to graduate at the end of this year and don't know where to go to get started to get all my licenses and certifications. So ANY help would be really appreciated. Thanks very much for reading, talk to you again soon.

Hey

Since you are still in High school I would recommend going over to your local airport and start taking some lessons. You could easily get your Private before you got out of high school and just enjoy it for a little while like I did.

There are a lot of flight schools out their just do your research. It really depends on if you want to stay close to home or are willing travel to another part of the country. Also something else to consider is are you wanting to just get your ratings or are you looking for an associates or bachelors. You could also just do all of your training part 61 and go to a local college. Just consider your options.

Yea i'm willing to go anywhere I have to, to go to a good flight school. Do you guys recommend any flight schools that you went to? Or maybe ATP for example or RAA?

Stay away from RAA, buddy. That place will take you for a ride, and not in a good way either.

I thought RAA was going under?

CL65driver 02-02-2007 03:02 PM

Are they?

Well, if they are- thank god, what a sham that place was.

I went to (and now work at) Georgia Aviation and Technical College and I thought that it was great as a student. Much better than ERAU for less than a third of the price. You will go from 0 hours to cfi in about 18 months and you get a associates degree. Let me know if you want more info.
