Transpac Aircraft Rental
Does anyone know if Transpac would rent their airplanes out of the Part 141/61 operation?
I need some 50h to prepare my checkrides (315h TT as of today), and thinking about becoming a CFI, wich is the reason why I'm interested in Transpac.
Is Westwind comparable to Transpac in terms of quality?
Thanks

So Westwind would work in my situation?. I need airplane and CFI of course, but not one of their programs, just some customized training.
Their CFI program though......4 months and almost $11,000 good lord ^_^ even in Transpac the initial is aroung 6k, and for less you get CFI/CFII/MEI in US Aviation Academy

Because I live in Vegas, and Arizona is closer. But if it's worth it, I'd move anywhere.
Only problem I see with USAA is their C152. No problem instructing in C172, but there's no way I'd fit with a student in a C152. I'm 6'1''/250 pounds haha.

50 hours for check rides is pretty extreme... I'd say maybe 10-20 hours of check ride prep max. You'd probably be better going to a smaller operation. From the sound of it Westwind and Tpac aren't the type of operations you're looking for in terms of getting your CFI ratings.

I have 315h but 310h flown in 2007. I've been working in construction for years, so I must be pretty rusty.
10/20h would be awesome for my pocket, but I'm afraid IR will take me some extra training, because it's been a long LONG time without intercepting a radial. PPL/CPL is ok, should be ok!.
I was thinking in big schools in order to stay as CFI, but maybe I need to go somewhere else yeah. Any suggestion? I can move anywhere (single, no kids, no mortgage)

Lots of opportunities in Phoenix for CFI jobs. I understand the rusty pilot thing. I had a good 2 years off from flying myself, but it comes back quickly. I'd start by getting back into the books/regs first because as a CFI you've gotta be fresh on pretty much everything. Students ask all those questions you don't have an immediate answer to at the most inconvenient times. In the mean time I'd say look into all options in terms of schools to include ATP and the others mentioned above. If you want to contact Transpac and find out about the CFI program you can contact Kim Gale and he'll help you out

I've flown Westwind's airplanes. It was years back, but good maintenance and seemed sound, operation seemed pretty legitimate and quality all around. I know Transpac and who they were before. Can't think of anything good to say about them.
