Default A dream... Only for rich people?

Hi to everyone. My name is Carlos, I'm 20 and I'm from Spain. Right now I'm studying a cabin crew course, but to be honest I never want to be a flight attendance. My passion for aviation started many years ago and to think about being a pilot always made me dream awake.
Not much later, sadly, I discovered how expensive is to make this dream come true, that's why I decided to become a TCP and try to get in a company and get money to make possible the pilot training. I tried to go for it via military but here in Spain the maximum age to start the pilot thing was 18...
Thankfully a few months ago I met a pilot that explained to me how some airlines has training programmes for people that is trying to get introduced in the aviation world and I'm searching for as many opportunities as I could have!

Im searching for academies that has some kind of facilities to pay the big amounts that this profession requires, as any loan or "contract" that any academy, company or whatever that could help me, obviously for an international student.

As I should need to move off my country anyway (happily, dont get me wrong ) the location of whatever you could suggest to me doesn't matter.

Please, if you have info for this training courses and if there is something open for new cadets, as prices, requirements and all the info you think its relevant to me, it'd be very very helpfull.

PS: I've already spent hours on the web, searching for airline programmes and academies around the world, as accomodation, visas, possibility of work plus study to be able to pay the studies and thousands of things so please avoid some comments like "get in the pc and search, compare according to your situation" and bla bla... Im sorry but I've done my best and this is driving me crazy! The only problem is the money... And it shouldn't be when you try to reach your dreams

Thank you very much, and hope I can get a reply soon!

Carlos

Three ways to become a pilot:

1. Military (they pay to train you)
2. Expensive flight school (you pay because you have money)
3. You have no money, so you work at the airport or FBO (pumping gas, servicing aircraft, whatever) along with a night job. You save you money and you take lessons until you can get a commercial license. Then you find a job that pays you to fly.

Nobody is going to give you a free ride through a civilian training program. Nor will you qualify for a huge loan to fund this without assets and/or great credit.

I suggest you go with #3 above.

Money is always a problem, just a fact of life. And yes.... it does destroy dreams. So find a way to work hard and pay your own way.

Ok Carlos, I am not going to lie to you. Your pretty much screw. BUT.. BUT if your willing to work for that dream then your pretty much in a great place. You might think you're screw but money isn't an issue. First lets talk about the ab initio. Many airlines have them, look and see if Iberia has something like that. I know many European companies send their students to CAE academy in Arizona. Also if lets say airline x in country Y has an ab anitio program and your not a citizen then guess what my brotha you can always apply to become a citizen of that country. It takes time but you can do it.

Spanish passport = EU work rights. So, take a look at Aer Lingus cadetships, the BA Future Pilot Programme, etc, whenever they're open again.

I wanted to go into the US Air Force as a pilot. Bad eyesight sabotaged me before I even got started. I joined the Air Force ROTC program hoping to be a navigator, navigators were phased out. I ended up working for 10 years, saving money, living with room mates, driving old cars, etc. before going to flight school. I finished flight school just 3 months before the 9/11 attacks, after which I earned only 400/mo flying as an instructor for half a year. But little by little I gained experience, and eventually got to the (regional) airlines. It was quite a struggle and a journey. In the end it probably was not worth it, but it was something to experience. The moral of the story is it takes A LOT of determination to make it to being an airline pilot. However, if you're willing to not worry too much about making money, you can certainly have an interesting career flying for charter operations in the developing world or Alaska.

If you're really good, you might make it through one of those airline sponsored ab-initio programs in Europe, but you have to be exceptional.

Hello,

You can try to get the scholarship from the aviation college. I found many colleges who provides the scholarship to the students who want to pursue their career in aviation. Even financial aids are also available as a second option for you.
