Best CFI jobs?

Keep coming up on old posts about CFI gigs, was wondering if anyone has some new info regarding the best places to CFI. Willing to relocate mostly anywhere in US, and would like to work on a B.A. at the same time. Any insight is appreciated!

Thanks a lot

California (Bay Area).

Hourly rate starts from $40 and goes up to $100 per hour. Average around my neck of wood charge $60-70 and hour. That's $600 to $700 a day if you're willing to work 10-11 hours. Yes many schools are experiencing shortage of instructors so you can have as many student and work as many hours as you want. Really a good time to be CFIing.

Of course cost of living is sky high here too... But if you are willing to live with the roommate and work like a dog, you can earn and save goo chunk of change.

Fair weather spots are generally the busiest (read: the South). California, Arizona, Texas, Florida are the popular locales.

I'd start with whatever your preferences may be -- big city, climate, cost of living, brand name university, etc -- then go from there.

Check out CAE in Phoenix. One of the best gigs in the country.

I instructed in Oklahoma. Hourly wages wasn't anything crazy but cost of living is extremely low so I ended up making decent money.

I'm in Dallas now (not instructing) and heard it's a great place to instruct. Bunch of students and decent pay I believe.

Thanks for the good advice everyone, do you all have an particular schools you know of in these areas that seem like good gigs?

My brother is taking his CFI training from Arizona. The aviation college has 20+ partner locations in CA, KY, NV, FL, TN, TX, UT, VA and WA. Check it.

Boy, have times changed. I was making $15 an hour back in 2002 at a large pilot mill school in DAB. Full bennies though for what that was worth.

If you want to be a CFI AND study for a Bachelors degree at the same time then you da man. All the big schools would probably want to work you full time unless you have a special arrangement. A litttle school probably is best and since they are all over, you can go wherever you want.:D

My personal experience was in the central valley of california Sierra Academy of Aeronautics KMER. A gleefully diorganized place that worked me 14 hours a day when I first started (not flight hours, work hours). Had to tell them to reduce my load or I was leaving. But free housing and cheap food and all the hours you want.
