SE or TSTC?
 

Hello, I'm a junior in high school looking to start a career in commercial flying. I've been looking at colleges to apply to but have come down to two considerable options: Texas State Technical College or Southeastern Oklahoma State University. TSTC is listed as being amongst the best flight schools in Texas, earning your CFI in 5 semesters. Although, Southeastern offers a well built program with a pipeline to Envoy at a much cheaper overall price. Which school should I attend, if either?

I went to TSTC and it was a great program when i was there and its only been made better since i left. I wouldnt worry about the programs to get on with regionals because the regionals are all desperate for pilots and that will only get worse for them as retirements pick up. Just look at the threads on here and you'll see the regionals are all begging people to come fly for them as well as offering huge bonus's! Good luck

TSTC was a solid program when I was there. If you go there DO NOT get their associates degree. Especially if you're going to get a 4 year degree afterwards. If you get their associates, nearly half of the credits won't transfer/count for your undergrad. If you go there, I highly recommend Texas A&M University-Central Texas for your 4 year in Aviation Science. It's one of the best. If you go to OK you'll be paying out-of-state tuition which is dumb for a college across the border, in an industry where your 4 year degree is viewed the same no matter where you went. Same goes if you elect to go the private school route.

Have you considered the flight program at Tarrant County College?
