Flight School in Cali

Hey guys,

I just passed my FAA Class 1 medical, time to find a school now.

I have no idea what license I need, CPL or ATPL? (can I get an ATPL or ATP directly, or do I first need to get a CPL?)
I'm looking for a good school that also gives me the possibility to get my A320 typerating. The Airbus A320 typerating gives me a much bigger chance to land a pilot job I guess...

My girlfriend lives in San Diego, so it would be great to go to school in that region.

I will contact some Pilot friends asap, but all the input here in welcome!

Thanks!

You guess??
That's a lot of money and time to devote to something that you're guessing about.

Interesting first post.

Lots of hoops to jump through before you can start thinking about jet type ratings. To keep things simple, go to the following San Diego based flight school websites and contact them directly for further info.

Yes, I "guess", feel free to correct me... I hope other members are more helpful and can give me some answers on the questions I asked, not focus on bad choice of words or casual forum writing...

Here's how the aviation industry works (once you have earned your commercial and/or CFI ratings):

1) get hired by a company that flies airplanes.
2) get paid by said company to train and get qualified on their planes.

Anything you do that deviates from this list, at any level of the industry, ends up screwing not only yourself but every other professional pilot out there.

It's not your "casual writing" form. It's your apparent ignorance of the basics. I was under the impression you already have some flying experience, since you're read to jump right to the ATP. Do you have a PPL, at least?

Here's some advice: based on your post, you have basically no knowledge of what you're doing. So go find the info that has been posted here 1000 times already. There is a plethora of it. Everything you want to ask has been asked, and many have chimed in with informative responses.

Throwing out a basic "spoon feed me, please" post doesn't cut it.

Why even respond, this is obviously a someone looking for a reaction. Anyone who come to apc knows what the stepping stones are for getting a license. If the op is serious then he really has no clue and will learn the hard way.

Since you are asking about the ATPL I'm gonna assume that you are a European. Under that assumption, Europeans come here and train up to the private pilot with an instrument rating then return to Europe for their commercial and ATPL. If you are planning to stay in the US to fly you're going to need the appropriate visa or become a US citizen. SAA international, Gillespie Field, has an ATPL course, with instructors who are certified to teach to EASA standards. It's also one of the top professional flight schools in SAN Diego and it has a sister school based in Sweden. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info, and no, I don't have any flying exp. I studied aero engineering and did not pass my JAA medical class1 years ago.

This is a new start for me, finally doing what I wanted to do 10years ago. This is a 360 turn in my life and all the information from experienced people is more than welcome!

Next time I start a thread here, I will narrow things down, to avoid all the negative replies ;)
