How much multi time?
So I'm currently working on my Commercial Single Engine at a Collegiate Part 141 Flight School(WMU). After I get my single I plan to do my multi engine add on shortly thereafter. My plan is to go to a regional airline when I graduate and then a major(hopefully). How many multi hours do I need? I don't think there is a requirement but how many do the regionals like to see?

25 since ATP requires 50 and you can do 25 at the airline sim.
You will prob at least 5-15 for the checkride anyway, so just use this hours to be sure you are ready and don't rush |
got it, thanks

Do the 50 hours (minimum that Regionals advertise) multi-engine time need to be PIC?

25 AMEL time doesn't have to be PIC, but they do need you to have the FAA checkride completed successfully

Am I the only one that shudders at the thought of a 23 year old with 50 hrs of multi time being 1 heartbeat away from being de-facto PIC on a 76 seat RJ (with wing mounted engines that produce considerably more yaw than a PA44 when one fails?)
Think I had almost 400 multi when I first went to a regional, and I was considered lucky with multi time that low.....times have changed. |
