CFI school
Hello everyone!,
I never thought I'd say this but I want to get my CFI! Job search is reaaally slow, and it could take one more week or 6 months, so the smart thing here is getting my CFI, keep learning, and keep adding hours. I'll chew ginger gum if I get dizzy again after so many maneuvers :D I used the search function up there, and I read a lot about "the big ones (part141)" Transpac, USAA......and also American Flyers. I'm looking, ideally, for a small part 61 place, where I can be surrounded by experienced guys, good weather, and good quality overall. Money is not an issue at this point. I'm not Jay-Z but I'd rather pay extra 2k if it's worth it, that's what I mean. I just wanna learn and get things done efficiently. Any suggestions? I can move anywhere really, no preference at all. |
I might not recommend American Flyers for other ratings, but their CFI course was pretty cost-effective, with a good format. The quality could vary among their different school locations though, so I'd talk to someone with recent experience training at the location of interest.

How much can one expect to pay for CFII/MEI?

Thanks guys. It seems like American Flyers in Addison is actually a good option after all :)

The Flying School in Loveland, CO does a two week CFI course and CFII add on for another few days. Rate is decent and I've heard good things from friends who have gone there.

Hey guys, any suggestions on others flight schools that offer decent CFI CFII ?
I'm mostly looking for decent priced, good weather and accelerated learning (45-60 days to complete the two certificates). Thank you !! |

If you come work for us, we'll get you your CFII, MEI, SES for free!
The Warsaw Flying Club (located in northern Indiana) is looking for a passionate aviator to instruct our students/members. We are an active community of pilots (and wannabe pilots) who are looking for someone to fly our Cessna 152, 172's, Piper J3 Cub (on floats in the summer, wheels/skis in the winter), Seneca, Cirrus SR22, and Bellanca Super-Viking. We are willing to pay $35k salary, plus overtime. Perks are that we'll get you your CFII, Multi-Engine rating, MEI, Seaplane rating, and will support and mentor you into being the best damn instructor you can be (if you aren't already). What we expect: Work hard, play hard, love flying, love people, and be willing to stick around through December. You can expect to fly a minimum of 75 hours a month, and you'll have a blast doing it. The Warsaw area is a great little community full of lakes, biking/running trails, bars/restaurants, and a large, young, professional population. We are a college town and are the orthopedic capital of the world. Both draw in a young engineering crowd with quite a bit of international flair, giving our community a unique flavor. You're gonna love this town, this club, and these airplanes! Check us out on facebook at http://www.fb.com/WarsawFlyingClub and online at Warsaw Flying Club Our apologies that the website isn't super up-to-date, but we've been flying so much it's hard to keep up with it. PM me for more info, and share this with anyone who has a soul and wants to fly! ShyFlyGuy |

That seems like a good gig. I am very far away from getting my CFI, but I have done a lot of research on where I would want to get my ratings. CFI Acadamy north of Sacramento seemed like a good program. reasonable and seems like you could get them knocked out quickly. they do offer a place to stay for some cost, I think they just moved to a different building but might still have that option. The Multi time was also reasonable if you needed the 10 hrs or whatever was required. The reason I have them written down on my list, is the ground school they offer. Its upfront cost but its unlimited, I figured the CFI program would be good to have some extensive ground training. And if I remember correctly they have a grouped rating package. I have not herd anything good or bad about them yet, aside from there reviews. If anyone does have input I would like to know as well!! |
