Aerosim CFI

Hello,

I'm a currently a CFI in South Florida averaging about 80 flight hours per month. I applied at Aerosim and have phone interview in the next couple of days. I just want know how much flight time a new flight instructor can expect at Aerosim per month. The 10k bonus and free CFII and MEI is definitely attractive as I have neither. I'm just weighing down my options and would like to hear from anyone with experience at Aerosim. I love Florida and would like to stay here. Any recommendations?

How far are you towards your ATP? If you are already getting 80 hours a month, why switch? Is CFI your life long goal? Point being, if you are going to go to Aerosim and take the bonus and free training, you are going to owe them back a commitment of a year or more. If you quit before then to move on to another job, you owe them all that money back. If you are already within a year of hitting your ATP mins, stay where you are.

It will take you 2 months to get into the swing of things here with the standardization / training process. After that you will be able to fly as much as you want. Lots of flight cancellations for weather in the winter here. I was supposed to fly three times today and flew once, fog that slowly lifts into a low ceiling every morning. CFII can't come soon enough...

Like The Weatherman said, depends where you are at right now hours wise.

I know another guy came over from a nearby part 61 school in my class, I need to ask him what he thinks of that decision now.

do you guys get salary or hourly pay at aerosim? If hourly, how much did you end up making in the first 2 months?

Hourly. 21$/hr starting out. +1000$ a month first 10 months for new hire bonus. +3$/hr raise will come at 500 dual given, and +3$/hr raise once I get MEI.

First paycheck was pretty nice. $500 for my training classes + $1000 bonus... something like $1,200 after tax. Next one was tiny as I was getting standardized in the aircraft that I now fly, but at least I was flying at that point and getting health insurance, etc. Then I started to work and slowly got things going again here... Just about $4,000 after tax on the mark for the first two months.. Not bad considering how much I've sat around (albeit studying a lot.) Paychecks should look much better moving forward from here.

Thanks for the replies. Do instructors at Aerosim do ground lessons with students teaching topics such as weather and systems or do they mostly fly with students?

Instructors do ground and sims with the students. How much ground/sim time depends on if you are teaching private, instrument, multi, cfi, etc. Instrument has a lot of sim time and cfi has a lot of ground briefs. As for hours right now its all across the board. There are some instructors with no students barely getting by and some who are averaging 80 hrs a month. Not many are hitting above 100 hours a month anymore due to a combination of us hiring a large amount of instructors and Chinese students waiting to be cleared by the TSA to start training.

to clarify you only get $2/hrs at 500dg and it is only on your flight/sim pay. ground pay will stay at $21 unless you become a check instructor

cheers

I am considering a CFI position with Aerosim and would be greatful for any information about the interview, panel interview, initial sim review, stanz class, work environment, hours flown, hours paid (hours flown plus ground instruction), move to multi instruction.
