How to find a pair as a Safety Pilot
Hey there,
I'm going to be building some time locally, 20ish hours, and am looking for any way to cut costs. I heard about acting as a safety pilot for people looking for some IFR time. I understand the process but I'm wondering where I should go to find my pair? I live in Las Vegas. I'll be talking to the FBOs here this week about their rental costs and schedules so I'll ask them for advice. There is really only one flying club in town. They do offer discounted rates but with the membership fee it's pretty much a wash. The membership requires a one year commitment so I'd have to spend hundreds of dollars just to maybe find a partner through them. So, aside from standing at the airport entrance with a "Safety Pilot For Hire" sign, what suggestions do you all have? And before you say it, I have two kids I have to care for so I can't actually stand there with a sign... |

Pair of what?
I'm looking for a person who needs/wants IFR time. Time, not training. They would need a second person to fly with while they are under the hood. We would then be flying as a pair which is why I used that term. I left my information with 3 local FBOs yesterday who were happy to pass my info along to anyone needing a safety pilot. I joined a local facebook flying group and posted there. The only thing I have left to do is post fliers in the airport common areas. I'm not sure there's anything else I can do to advertise. |
