When NAI goes bankrupt, do pilots get their training bonds refunded?

Default Lemming effect

What we are really seeing amongst the NAI-sayers (see what I did there) is how indoctrinated the general pilot pool in the USA is. The legacies has been circumventing CBA's for decades by outsourcing on either ends of the spectrum by way of regionals and codeshare. The dramatic objection of NAI's is ridiculously hypocritical since Legacy disassociation practices (regional/global outsourcing) has actually cost American lives. Somehow the majority of U.S. pilots feel all warm and fuzzy about the wholesomeness of legacy carriers. It's amazing how quick we are to forget less than acceptable happenings such as:

-B-scale, $160/hr top out pay wide body at USAIR

-Gutting of pensions

-TWA, Cactus, and other less than reasonable mergers

-16/hr regional pay

-50% of domestic flying is now "regional"

-Sub par, outdated aircraft, minimum-security-warden-attitudes amongst FA's. "I'm only here for your safety"

-International flying outsourced via code share to airlines with less than stellar safety records.

-non flying military background (you know, many of whom actually do the fighting) are hardly regarded while pilots, the cushiest job in the military, are considered heroes and given preference.

-regional captains with thousands of hours get little consideration while certain minorities with no real experience to speak of are hired preferentially at legacies all to make the airline look good.

The US legacies have been providing an embarrassing sub par product to the general public for decades and at premium prices compared to other regions of the world. Now comes a global startup who promises to offer the American public a quality product at half the cost and you are all up in arms? Give me a break!

I'm guessing the majority of you are conservatives. It's a little different when the challenges of capitalism are directed towards you, isn't it.

The governing bodies have deemed NAI's entrance to the US market fair and safe. That should be good enough for you know-nothings who think you are qualified to speak out about an upstart you haven't even bothered to study properly.

My neighbour who flies for Norwegian posted on his Facebook page this morning that Norwegian Air UK got its final USDOT approval late Friday. No news sources yet that I can find, but apparently they have been told about it within the company.

Unless we are talking about pure libertarians, the criticism does not hold water. First, there is a difference in the “scope” of political views at the domestic level v. International level. Just because someone thinks a policy is necessary at the state level does not mean it is a good idea at the international level or vice versa.

Second, most conservatives and libertarians I know today believe that government should act in its own interest first. I’m disappointed Trump hasn’t acted against NAI but then again, I don’t blame him, not the most important issue at the national level; none of this would be an issue if Obama hadn’t given these guys a gift.
