There is some truth to this. Here is the short story:

USA: if you are well off and have good coverage you will be treated promptly and by a quality system at astronomical prices which is reflected in the insurance premiums. If you are poor you are in a bad position.

Europe: Everyone is covered but the doctors decide who is more urgent and you may have to wait for a while and then frustratingly be postponed. The overall cost of procedures is generally much lower. private insurance and clinics is still an option for those who do not want to wait.

11.5/mo plus benefits (health insurance paid in full by company) and includes 4 weeks of vacation.

Ok. Thx. I am assuming that is starting first year FO pay. If so, not too bad. Are they taking on DECs for US bases?

That’s DEC pay, not FO.

I am on decent US insurance. I had to have a splinter deep in my palm extracted. It cost about $10,000 to have a 5 minute surgical procedure, with local anesthetic, done in the OR. My cost was affordable.

You think 10k to take out a splinter is affordable or am I missing the joke?
