Applying at foreign airlines
I was looking at the online application of an airline is Asia yesterday. I am planning on applying there in the next year. (I just need to get to 1000 hrs of jet time first) I saw on the application that they wanted my social security number. I have worked overseas before, and the last foreign company I worked for did not ask or require my U.S social security number. Should I just leave that information out? I am not sure what a foreign company with a base outside the US would need my social security number for.

EVA and China Airlines will want the application filled out in full before they look at you. Don't leave anything incomplete.

I am going to apply directly through the airlines website.
I hate giving anyone my social here in the states. I never put it on a resume here unless I get hired by said company. I am concerned about the security of my personal information in the hands of a foreign company that may or maynot call me for an interview. I realize if hired eventually you will probably have to give them everything they ask for. I just worry about my ssn sitting in a file or on some guys laptop and somebody gets the idea to make a few bucks at my expense. I guess it's the price you pay for a shot at the dream. |
