emirates related

Sri Lankan airlines that is. I believe emirates owns 43%. I am originally from Sri Lanka living in the U.S. I have lived here for close to 7 years. Ever since, I've had this strong urge to fly for Sri Lankan. Just because it's my homeland and there is always something missing...that kind of thing. However, reading some of the posts in places like pprune.org I have heard so much negativity. Despite, I know a friend whose brother flies the 340 and absolutely loves it. The airline is in a turmoil, that's for sure. However, I am very attracted to their cadet pilot programme. I have heard that a lot of sri lankan pilots after serving for a few years go to places like Cathay, Ethiad, Emirates etc. Say I got in the cadet pilot program. Is it worth giving it a shot? Emirates pilots, as far as you know, is this a good option to consider?

Geopolitical issues aside as far as living in Sri Lanka now, I think it wouldn't hurt as far as using it as a stepping stone to go elsewhere-since you said you are interested in the cadet program I assume you don't have the hours needed for EK or EY etc.

The only problem I have with it,without sounding negative, is that there is no guarantee of moving on to another airline. If you do go to Sri Lanka, be certain that you will be happy to remain at Sri Lankan for the long term just in case.

Good luck
