Default Emirates recent hires**

Anyone recently get hired at Emirates or got a job offer? Website says 2000 hours in aircraft equal or more than 20 tons. I only have 1000 (erj175) with about 2000TT. What seems to be competitive these days? 4 year degree, super young if that helps

Hey Yeeyee

I am not at EK... However have had friends there and interviewed myself many years ago... If you are very young it may hurt you there in the long run... Best I remember they have a min age for upgrade believe it to be 35... Buddy that went there who was older with CRJ Command time, upgraded in 5 years but if you are in your early twenties it could be a long wait... Something to think about...

Best of luck in your future endeavors...

Age for command has been lowered. Either 32 or 30, can't remember.

I was with them for 10 years. Its not worth it.

Constant erosion to the terms and conditions, constant changes to the upgrade requirements. Any LCCs or even a selected ACMI carriers are days and nights better than EK.

An A380 Captain was in my new hire class at JetBlue.
A 777 FO was in my new hire class at CommutAir four years ago.

Just let that sink in before jumping to go there.

And they still decided to go back to the bottom of the list (potentially flying an E190), IMHO, get to the bottom of the list you want to be on.

I flew with a 61 year old new hire at United a few years ago that was a former 20 plus year Northwest pilot who left for Emirates during Northwests bankruptcy. He spent 7 years at Emirates as a 777 CA and told me things that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Told me safety is not 1 or 2, more like 3 or 4 on the list. Culture is terrible and management is awful. Told me Emirates was an accident waiting to happen.

Had a returning furloughed United pilot (also a former Emirates 777 CA) who I also flew and he with agreed with everything first former Emirates pilot told me.

This isn’t a shot against the pilots working at Emirates. Especially the ones hired during bad economic times, bankruptcies and stagnation here in the US. With an impending global pilot shortage, all US Legacies, Fedex, UPS and LCC’s hiring, massive retirements and pattern bargaining. Why would anyone want to go to work for that scumbag airline today?

I believe I know both of those gentlemen, one for sure. I would say, if I am correct, that they themselves created issues with the airline. If one goes there and think it's UAL, DAL, AA, etc., there will be a rude awakening awaiting. You can't go into the chief pilot's office (and why were you there to begin with) and start ranting and raving.

The lifestyle creates a great deal of stress, and some deal with the stress in different ways. Insulting behavior does not bode well with some cultures. 'Nuff said.
