No....THIS is "sad"

Greed of the Thomas Cook fat cats: How high-flying bosses creamed off £47MILLION in pay and perks in the years before travel firm collapsed - leaving 156,000 stranded

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...pay-perks.html

And even sadder is how this scenario has repeated itself in this industry, over and over and over.

Sadder still, economic illiteracy. CEO Frankenhauer was paid £8.4 million over the 5 years the company revenue was about £45 billion. A rounding error and half of it was in performance-based stock which is now zero.

This post makes no sense.
Those companies are gone because people travel more, just using different platforms. Nothing there predicts recession.

You literally are saying "recession is coming" based on Blockbuster going under.

Thomas Cook Germany is the travel company, the german airline of Thomas Cook is still flying normally and in indeed just secured a bridging loan of €380 million to survive over the winter as it is profitable and there are some investors interested in buying it, or parts of it. However, with the demise of TC of course around 20% of its passengers are gone.

It is very sad when this happens, and it's happened to me twice.

I hate it for pax and crew stuck at overseas destinations, being harassed by hotels for personal credit cards, worrying if your latest paycheck will bounce and wondering where your next job will be.

If I had Thomas Cook crew near me, I'd put them up at my house until they got flights home.

There was a low T center in town that just closed down, must mean a recession is months away...
