Went to the road show today.. I must say It was impressive. They painted a great picture.
One guy asked the question about age limits today. For new hire Captains it is 56, but they almost never hire direct entry Captains. For First Officers, it is 52. The mandatory retirement age is in line with ICAO at 65. |
Get an interview? Whats your experience?

Hi!
Just checked my status: "Under Review", as always. 5000 TT 4000 Jet 1100+ PIC Jet Some SIC time over 55 tonnes No modern/glass jet Most hours small jets (DC-9s and smaller). cliff LFW |
What about the scheduling issues they've had for a while now? Granted, you'd be living over there, but flying 90 hours/mo international is a killer!

"Applied" You have completed all the steps of the application form. ************** I guess I'm not under review yet....... Edit: Dear Mr Williams, With respect to your application to join Emirates, we have now had the opportunity to thoroughly review your application. I regret to inform you that we are unable to process your application any further and we are also unable to provide any further feedback with regard to why this decision was taken. |

There does not seem to be a logical method for selection. Some guys have been called is CRJ time. The aircraft I'm flying at the moment is over 30 tonnes, but well under 55t. I'm not sure if there's still a chance to get a call for interview. I think it will all be based on how many bodies they need, and how many apply. My company has one pilot who just started at Emirates a few weeks ago. |
Supply and demand. It was said at one of their road shows that only about 23% of the people who interview, are actually hired. After a battery of test's (personality and Syc, weed out the crazy ones, the ones with too many girl friends.....) And If you are an American (USA) Pilot, that number drops even more. Keep your chin up, the Europeans are leaving in numbers at the end of their contracts, and as the EU companies spool up. They will soon figure it out....by that time they will make alot of changes, including commuting schedules, and no one will show up for an interview.... GOOD LUCK

So basically you are saying that it will eventually get so bad that it will start getting better again. |
